Iran Says It May Resume American Atomic Discussions if Treated with 'Dignity' and 'Honor'

Iran is willing to resume nuclear negotiations with Washington provided that it is approached with "respect" and "respect", Tehran's top diplomat has declared.

The Iranian diplomat said solely negotiations worked, and disclosed fresh requests had been made by intermediaries to restart talks with the American leadership. He claimed Iran possessed no undeclared nuclear sites, and Tehran could not yet permit the UN nuclear inspectorate to visit attacked atomic facilities for safety concerns.

Walking a Difficult Path

Araghchi is treading a challenging path since Iran wishes not to be perceived to be proceeding from a position of vulnerability, and he emphatically stated that Iran had arisen more powerful in military terms and mentally from the joint assault on its enrichment centers in June.

He was addressing at a defense forum in Tehran where he restated that Iran had "an inalienable right to enrich uranium domestically that it will perpetually retain" – the key factor of the deadlock in the earlier negotiations.

Previous Talks Suddenly Terminated

The earlier sessions of talks between the United States and Iran were brought to an abrupt and bitter termination on 12 June when the Israeli government, with Washington's assistance, attacked Iran's enrichment centers in a two-week conflict that ended with the American leader claiming the facilities had been eliminated. Subsequently, Western states employed their authority to restore global restrictions, but Iran maintains they have not had a significant effect.

Ideal Resolution Suggested

Iran's diplomats claimed they felt they had achieved a "ideal resolution" to the enrichment issue in prior discussions, when it was agreed an Iran-based consortium with US participation could enrich uranium. Each party would have been able to assert triumph since domestic enrichment would have remained and the US could be confident that Iran's enrichment initiative was entirely non-military.

It had not been decided in the discussions that US nuclear scientists could work inside Iran, but that was a natural consequence of the partnership suggestion. Representatives asserted three times they had achieved a deal with Trump's special envoy the US official only for the agreement to collapse due to "opponents in the US".

Existing Situation

Iran's diplomats stated the cooperative arrangement was now off the table, but it seems quite possible the suggestion could be revived in some form if talks restart.

Trump recently claimed he had been obtaining communications that Iran wanted to restart talks, but privately Iran's diplomats say they are not yet obtaining coherent offers from the United States either directly or from key regional mediators, such as Qatar, Egypt, Oman and the Saudi kingdom. The Iranian foreign ministry has been accused of passivity in the aftermath of Washington's unmediated tactics, but Tehran says negotiations is not part of a performance.

Negotiating Position

In his speech to the gathering, aimed to depict the US as a hegemonic power that misuses the idea of international law, Araghchi declared the 12-day war revealed the conflict could not be resolved by armed force. He stated the assaults commenced with a Washington's ultimatum for an complete Tehran capitulation and culminated with an complete request for a ceasefire.

Iran is convinced the first strikes by Israel were mounted with full US knowledge and cooperation, making confidence hard to reestablish.

Diplomacy Continues the Ultimate Resolution

The foreign minister stated: "Tehran was not the one that had abandoned dialogue; it was America and the European states that had repeatedly tried to dictate their demands during the talks. Dialogue can still be active and stays the final answer to address conflicts, but its standards, regulations and principles must be adhered to."

"If they address to the nation of Iran with the tone of respect and respect, they will receive a answer in the same approach."

Restoration and Rebuilding

In what is portrayed by Iran's diplomats as the conflict of recovery and reconstruction, the foreign minister stated he was certain Iran's security strengths "are considerably enhanced than prior to 13 or 14 June of this year. Every aspect of our defense have been reestablished. We gained numerous insights from this engagement; we have identified our internal vulnerabilities and the shortcomings of the enemy."

He added: "We successfully passed this conflict. Our atomic expertise, which they planned to eliminate, remains in place. The sites and equipment, if eliminated, will be restored; what is important is the resolve of the nation of Iran and then the unity of the country that they aimed at, but failed to break. The Iranian people have developed stronger, more united, and more endorsing of the leadership and the country in the face of this assault."
